According to Customs data, China imported 532,000 tons cotton in Dec. 2012, rising 75.3% from a month ago, but dropping 32.7% from a year ago. The average import price was 1947 USD per ton. India replaced the US as the top cotton supplier to China.


In the year 2012, China imported 5.137 million tons cotton, rising 52.7% on a yearly basis. The average price was 2298 USD per ton, dropping 18.3% from a year ago. The US was the top cotton supplier to China, exporting 1.464 million tons; then India, exporting 1.439 million tons; followed by Australia, exporting 0.819 million tons.
